1917 GMC Model 16AA WWI Truck
1917 GMC model 16AA WWI Truck. Powered by the original Continental 4 cylinder engine that starts easily and runs good, Its hand crank only. 3 speed manual transmission, very good brakes and new tires. This truck has been in a museum for decades and was fully restored before going into the museum. Ive searched for hours and I believe that this is the only example of this truck to be found.
When the U.S. entered World War I new impetus was given to Model 16 for military use, and it became the Class AA military truck for the duration of World War I. Of the 13,316 Model 16 trucks produced, the major portion build in 1917 and 1918 were for military use.
The U.S. Army developed a classification of military vehicles and chose preferred supplies for class. GMC was selected to be the primary source for Class AA, ยพ-ton trucks. The military version was designated as GMC model 16AA.
