1944 Allis Chalmers M7 Snow Tractor Original M7 Snow tractor Serial number 2. Located in Estes Park, Colorado where it has resided for at least 30 years, probably longer. Shows 1716 miles. Engine appears to be non original (1950’s) and does not run. Would require a late WW2 block to be original. Missing carburetor. We have collected a huge number of the spare parts needed to restore it including the very rare engine heating stove and telescoping exhaust flue, drive and idler rollers, bottom rollers, etc. Comes with an extra track frame and two extra tracks (four tracks total including the one on the machine), and two skis which both need minor repair. Instruments are original and complete. Track on machine is intact, all other tracks need repair with roller chain. Top and side curtains are available from Beachwood Canvas. This is as close as you’ll come to a complete M7 snow tractor restoration project!
M7’s were used by the 10th Mountain Division in nearby Camp Hale during WW2. All 291 M7’s were built in 1944 by Allis Chalmers in Milwaukee using Jeep drive train components as specified by the Army Air Corps. Local legend is that this machine was based at Camp Hale, then used at a ski resort after the war. It was then acquired by a local dude ranch to give rides in the winter. Note the original government number on the hood.
