1971 AM General M35a2 Cargo Truck
the first registered civilian owner. Truck was purchased from government at Barstow, CA and driven home. Was originally a CA Army National Guard truck. Painted 4-color desert MERDC paint scheme. Paint is faded but its a great patina. No dents or body damage. This is an excellent, original truck that starts, drives, and stops exactly like it should. Some surface rust in a few places in the cab (mostly the inner rails of the hard top), but no holes. Body and frame are solid. White multi-fuel engine with whistler C-type turbo. 5 speed Spicer transmission with two-speed transfer case. Brakes are air over hydraulic and work excellent. Runs excellent, starts easily, no leaks. Injection pump still has all its lead seals, has not been tampered with or bypassed. Always fed a diet of diesel fuel, no waste/vegetable oil. Brand new alternator and belts just installed. Tires are in good shape with decent tread. Recent fluids change. Hood has gas-assist struts to make opening/closing easy. Truck has many upgrades: all filters converted to spin-on type. Pyrometer and boost gauge. Hard top. Reverse camera. 12v converter and USB to charge phone, GPS, etc. AN/VIC-3 digital vehicle intercom system with two separate control boxes. Connect the two Bose TriPort Tactical Headsets with Acoustic Noise Cancelling® headphone technology. These allow you to speak to your passenger and/or listen to an MP3 player. Convoy lights and roof mounted spot light. Air shift front axle. Last military overhaul at Tooele Army Depot on 9/86. All tools for the pioneer rack are included. LED traffic signal lights mounted on rear top bow and controlled from the cab. Seats are adjustable for height and spring dampening (from a HEMETT) and the drivers seat base cushion is starting to fray. Cargo top is in good shape but some of the threads holding the zippers are disintegrating. In the bed is a medium tow-bar with both feet and stowed in a military carrier. Three 5 gallon fuel cans with mounts are located in the RF corner of bed. A 6000 lb Warn 24v winch is mounted at the front of the bed to winch in smaller vehicles or cargo. Two 24v LED lights illuminate the cargo area. Batteries are Optima Red-Tops. Lockable storage box is mounted in the LF corner. Troop seats are installed. Everything is working properly except the fuel gauge sender has been working intermittently lately. I need the storage space so truck needs to be picked up within 7 days of sale. $1000 deposit due within 24 hrs of sale.
