Up for bid today is a rather rare HMMWV prototype released from the Marines. This unit is equipped with a 30kw 3-phase generator sandwiched between the 6.5L diesel engine and the 4-speed automatic transmission. This is believed to be one of two prototypes that were made. The generator is designed to feed a rectifier behind the passenger seat, which in turn fed a 3-phase invertor behind the drivers seat so the appropriate AC voltage could be produced regardless of engine speed. Currently the generator produces 3-phase AC power, but the invertor appears to be non-functional. The engine is equipped with a electronic governor, so the truck can produce AC power in at 220V for house hold applications, or 208V 3-phase as required. The truck is left in the original form as it left the marines with very low miles on it as it was a prototype and suffered a starter failure not long after delivery for testing. I’ve replaced the starter and put the injection pump back together and the truck runs very strong and starts up immediately. It has two new batteries in it as well. The fording switch was removed before release but the pieces are all still there. I’ve pulled off the fording exhaust for shipping purposes, but can reinstall if you like. Feel free to reach out with any questions. The truck has a VA on road title in my name as well ready to sign over to the new owner. This is your chance to own a rather rare piece.
