Original Pre-WWII Austrian Named Officers Tunic tailor made in Vienna! – Named to Oberleutnant Blaschutty

I was able to find an Oberleutnant Johann Blaschutty serving with Feldartillerie Regiment Nr 105 in 1918 on the rank lists of the era.

The Feldartillerieregiment Nr. 105 was a field artillery regiment of the Austro-Hungarian kaiserlich und königlich (k.u.k.) Army, formed in the years leading up to the First World War as part of the empire’s modernization and expansion of its artillery arm. Like many k.u.k. artillery units, it drew personnel from multiple ethnic regions of the Dual Monarchy, reflecting the empire’s diverse composition.

At the outbreak of World War I in 1914, the regiment was mobilized and assigned to support infantry formations on the Eastern Front. There, it took part in early campaigns against the Russian Empire, including the difficult battles in Galicia. The regiment’s role was typical of field artillery: providing indirect fire support, counter-battery fire, and defensive barrages during both advances and retreats. The harsh conditions of the Eastern Front—long supply lines, extreme weather, and heavy casualties—tested the unit severely.

In subsequent years, elements of the regiment were redeployed as needed, possibly seeing action on other fronts such as the Italian Front after 1915, where Austro-Hungarian artillery was crucial in mountainous warfare. Operating in difficult alpine terrain required adaptability, including the use of lighter guns and innovative positioning.

As the war progressed, the regiment, like much of the Austro-Hungarian Army, suffered from declining morale, shortages of materiel, and increasing logistical strain. By 1918, with the empire nearing collapse, the regiment’s operational effectiveness had diminished.

Following the dissolution of Austria-Hungary at the end of the war, Feldartillerieregiment Nr. 105 was disbanded.
