BRM 1K (BMP 1) Infantry Fighting Vehicle Czech Army BRM-1K – the reconnaissance/command version of the famous BMP-1 seen in action throughout Eastern Europe and the Middle East. This vehicle is one of only 200 produced in the reconnaissance/command configuration, and it includes all of the original radio/communications gear inside, radar mast (see pictures) plus an expanded 2 man turret which differs from the BMP-1. Turret turns easily, and includes all sights, ammo racks, etc. Interior is very complete, and many of the radios + radar control panels turn on. Seating in rear of vehicle as well for 2 men each with their own hatches and periscopes. Total crew is 6 (driver, commander, gunner, loader, radioman1, radioman 2 – all have their individual hatches). Weighing in at around 28,000 lbs, it is not a major issue to transport when compared to many IFV’s & tanks.
Unlike many NATO armored vehicles of the era (1960’s – 1970’s), this vehicle is mechanically straight forward and fast! It boasts a 15.8 liter 6 cylinder diesel engine coupled to an easy to shift manual gearbox with hydraulic steering, and will run out around 40 mph. It is a joy to drive and easy to maintain. Lots of power off the starting line, and it only gets better from there.
This BRM-1K shows only 284 KM on the clock, and the running gear (tracks, road wheels, etc) reflect that as everything is in new to nearly new shape. All mechanical parts are standard BMP-1 running gear. The paintwork is good with no rust, and it cleans up nicely with a good wash after a day in the field. I imported this from Europe in 2018, and now have other vehicles demanding my attention.
Includes 600 page English Operations and Maintenance Manual
